“As a veterinary physiotherapy student, I was interested in going abroad for placement so I contacted a number of racing stables in Sydney. Bjorn Baker Racing were the first to get back to me with a placement offer. It was ideal as they had an equine massage therapist and a vet come to the stables at least once a week to work with the horses so I could assist and learn from them as well as learning more about the horse racing industry as a stable groom (strapper).
“My stand-out memories are of taking horses that I had worked with a lot to the races and seeing them win. I loved the outdoors, active lifestyle of Australia and the fast-paced, interesting industry of racing.
